Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Dr. Mayans met her husband in Medical School and move to North Carolina for 5 years for her residency. She returned due to her love of friends and family, which is reflected in her love of building meaningful relationships with her patients and their family.
Through school she loved science, and continues to contribute to the science of medicine with article and book chapters on topics such as migraine headaches, metabolic syndrome, and lead poisoning. She has a husband, 2 children, 3 dogs, and one cat.
