Dr. Bonnie Charles Smothers grew up in Clearwater, KS and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2008. She did her residency at Via Christi Family Medicine Residency in Wichita. During residency, she was awarded ‘Outstanding First Year Resident’ and was also named Chief Resident during her third year. She is active in teaching medical students in the Wichita community and received the ‘Ad Astra Volunteer Faculty’ award in 2020. She has a special interest in women’s health, preventive medicine, and pediatrics. Her favorite thing about family medicine is taking care of multi-generational families and helping patients live healthier lives physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Outside of the office, Dr. Charles Smothers is a busy wife and mom of three boys. She is active in her church and enjoys traveling, exercising, reading, and taking care of her personal menagerie. She gives God all the glory for what He is doing in and through her life. One of her favorite verses for her practice is 2 Corinthians 4:16-18; “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen.“
